Nutants and their currency

So on July 17 of 2024, I got riffed by Nutanix because the feeble leadership, being in quite a brittle state, did not like to hear candid and direct evaluations of their headless chicken failings and flaws as it pertains to doing business in a successful manner.

I could have just shut up and taken it all on the chin sans any commentary from the peanut gallery, but that is not me and it never will be.

If you cannot have a free-flowing discussion on strategy, direction and common-sense logic you are working for the wrong sheeple.

Because this is how continually self-improving corporations get to exist and survive instead of crashing and burning and eventually going out of business.

Nutanix are already yesterday's hero.

They came with some great ideas and had a refreshing new way of tackling problems in IT, but they went wrong at the sales leadership level on so many fronts I would have to write a dozen or so 800 page epics to cover it all.

I realized the other day that the entire time I was there I was talked to and treated like a 2-year-old being schooled by an opinionated pre-teen adolescent that was not very smart to begin with.

Where I am now, also in a state of decline from their peak glory years is still twice the size of Nutanix and that is a very sobering wake up slap indeed.

I am still restoring my once confident self-esteem and such after 5 years of such treatment at Nutanix by moron leadership and am no longer wondering why a host of great folks also trooped through there and like me will never return.

Turns out they all had the same treatment as I experienced, and they all had a major sense of humor failure about it all as well.

I am happy to say I have finally come to be at peace with my no longer being there.

What is a shame is their wares had quite a lot of potential and it is that feeling of what a waste of an opportunity it all turned out to be that I have taken so hard.

I have seen other companies with really great products and technology come and go though, so it's not really a great surprise to see Nutanix go they way they have gone.

What is unusual is how they have done it all to themselves.

If I was a company like Broadcom I would be looking at Nutanix with a great deal of interest and getting them into a state where they sold only software to OEM server manufacturers and ceased selling to the channel partners who clearly don't want to play.

This would mean a lot of software dev folks would work on AOS and Prism Central flaws etc. and leave the selling to Cisco, Dell, Lenovo and HPE.

Kind of an echo of the way Veeam partner with everybody.

You could then move the entire operation to India and have small teams selling to the major OEM server vendors and that would be a gem of a business operating model cost and control wise to operate under.

Nutanix are never going to crack the channel here in the USA or anywhere else. This way, where the channel already serves these OEM vendors is a smart business move IMHO.

It's just a smart business chess move to operate under.

Nutanix Commercial and enterprise sales organizations are what would be best described diplomatically as a complete failure, mostly because when you pay peanuts what you get is monkeys....

Sad but very true - Ref Nutanix 2019-2024.
